NIAS MEDICAL MISSION TRIP - July 1 - 5 A team of five from the church, comprising Khuen Foong, Jia Ying, Naveen, Ken Sinclair and Kok Bin, made a mission trip to Nias on July 1-5. Unlike the previous three mission trips made by the church, the focus of this trip was to conduct health checks and provide medical consultation to those who have need. All in all, the medical team of Khuen Foong, Jia Ying and Naveen provided health checks and consultation to some 160 persons in a 3-day period to the children and staff of Jochebed's Choice Children's Home in Binaka, members of the church in Gunung Sitoli, and members of a village church and the local residents in Sihare Õ, Lahusa. A few critical cases were identified in the village and they were sent to the hospital in Gunung Sitoli for further care and attention. Ken and Kok Bin assisted with the administrative work.
On the Sunday of July 3, the team worshipped with the Gunung Sitoli congregation. Ken preached that Sunday morning and his lesson was translated into the local Nias language by Cery, the preacher of the congregation. The praise singing of the congregation was most impressive. It was full and had a unique lilt to it.
After the service was over, the team had the privilege to witness nine baptisms in the Sumatran Sea, just a shore away from the church building. The nine, 2 men and 7 ladies, were from another village in the south of the island.
